Usually, when you think of an old man's pub, you think of a place full of pot-bellied 60 and 70 year old men whose only purpose in life is to get drunk on 10 pints of Heavy, play darts and eat fish and chips with mushy-peas while watching the Premier League on an outdated TV - at least, coming from the UK, this is the image that comes into my mind. The Old Man's pub in Akácfa utca in the 7th District, however, doesn't come close to matching this stereotype. For a start, there is a distinct lack of 60 and 70 year olds, and there's absolutely no trace of mushy peas, let alone fish and chips. Instead, you'll find a bunch of 20- and 30-somethings dining on a selection of fish, poultry and beef with side salads, or low calorie cuisine, while knocking back a cocktail or two or sipping some wine. Entertainment at Budapest's Old Man's Pub is also different - in place of an old TV to watch, you'll find a selection of Hungary's best live acts, including: Crystal, the Cotton Club Singers, the Hobo Blues Band and the Hooligans to name just a few. You'll also be served by some really pretty barmaids and waitresses - another thing you'll rarely see down at your local.
